Greenly Workday March 24

Putting the call out to all you Coastcarers our next workday at Greenly is this Sunday. We are planning to do some “brushing” on a large windblown area at Greenly south, turn left when you enter into Greenly Beach and follow the signs. We will be onsite ~9am-12pm

Brushing is a method used to help reduce wind and water erosion and allow sand to build up. This will assist with creating more favourable conditions for our future plantings. We will be using prunings from local native plants, mostly sheoak, eucalyptus and Melaleuca. Most of the prunings also have a lot of seed on them which we hope will assist with introducing seed into these little microclimates.

We need your help to distribute the prunings across the site. if you have prunings of local native plants bring them along on Sunday. Check the pics to get an idea of the size of the prunings we are after. We don’t want anything too large that people may want to use for firewood.

We are very interested to hear from you if you could supply large quantities of local native plant prunings to our work site if not this Sunday anytime in the future. Get in touch to find out more details of what we after as we do not want to introduce anything weedy.
